On Wednesday we had some year six students come over to help Room 19 with some arts and craft and cleaning. Today is Thrusday and the same year six students come to help us.

It has been a good year this year for the amazing year 3's.

Tennis
On Wednesday Room 19 had a tennis session with Nick from Auckland Tennis.
Nick went through some warm up drills and then taught the class a few skills. One of the fun activities was when the students paired up and had to hit a ball over the arms (one arm of the student were linked together to form a net). The students got a chance to play doubles and practice hitting the ball to their partner.
We took pictures and made a video of the session. Click on the video to watch.

Scooter Safety
Today Steve from Scooter Safety came to teach the Year 3's how to be safe on scooters.
We put on helmets and elbow pads to protect us in case we fall over. Next Steve showed us how to safely come off a scooter after riding and how to slow down and use the brakes.

Message in a Bottle
On Wednesday Matua Martin and the team from 'The Roots' brought in the bottles for our messages. We went into the school hall and two year 2 classes joined us. Next they introduced themselves and explained what we had to do to put the messages in the bottle. They split us in half and took photos of our messages. After we went down on to the mat we had to roll the pictures and put them in the bottle. We put lids on the bottles and we used plastic ties to join them to make a triangle shape. We had buddies to help put our messages inside the bottles.
Last we put our triangles on to the stage with the other bottles. The bottles will be taken down to the 'Gantry' ready to be assembled.
Room 19 had lots of fun making the bottle wave!

The Roots comes to talk with Meadowbank School!
You are all probably thinking 'Who are the Roots?' They are a company that helps save the enviromment. They are all from New Zealand.
What they are trying to do is that instead of recycling bottles, they are using them to make a bottle wave. Here is a picture of a bottle wave:
Over 4,500 students are participating in this event.
Matua Martin who is part of the The Roots came to talk to the school about their project. They are getting together with many schools around the Auckland to create a eco friendly community art work made of recyclable material with each child writing a message of hope for the upcoming season and festivities.
In each individual bottle will be a message of hope from a student. They will be assembled together and made in to wave that will e installed at Auckland waterfront’s ‘Gantry’ viewing platform.
What a wonderful project to be apart of. We are looking forward to putting our messages in a bottle.

Te Reo Maori
Our Te Reo Maori focus is on the classroom or 'akomanga'. Students learned names of objects around the classroom.
Next the students learned to say a question and answer in Maori.
He aha tenei? (What is this?)
He ________ tenei. (This is a ___________.)
Students practised with their partners saying the sentence structures in Maori.
Afterwards, the students used the ipads to show what they have learned.
Here are some examples of what they did.
Can you say these words?

My trip to the Bay of Islands
In the holidays me, my grandpa, grandma, my friend and his grandma went on a trip to the Bay of Islands for 3 days.
First when we arrived it was very wet so we found a hotel to stay in for 2 days. When we found our room we first unpacked our things.
After the rain cleared it was lunchtime and we didn't have any food so we all got in the car and headed to the nearest food court. My friend wanted to eat McDonald's so we did.
While we waited for the food my grandpa got out his iPAD and let me play EXPLORATION on it until the food arrived. Just in case you don't know what EXPLORATION is, it's like a game and everything is made out of blocks and you can build anything. There are 3 modes: Flat mode, Earth mode and flying blocks mode.

Lek`s Amazing holiday
In the holiday I went to the Coromandel for 3 days.
First we got everything ready, then me and my dad got the jetski then every one got in the car.
Next we drove to Coromandel. It took two hours then when we got there we put every thing in place then my grandparents and my uncle arrived.
We had dinner on the BBQ every day!!! We and my family went to the the beach every day too!! Me and my uncle played monopoly too.
Finally we went on the jetski but... it got stuck. My dad quickly got it back on the trailer. After that we went home. It was the best holiday ever!

White out
In the holiday we went to Mt Ruapehu. We went with my dad's girl friend's family. We did sking the first couple of days and that went well, but on the last 3 days there was a white out.
So our first idea was to make slushy's and to have a snow ball fight, that did not go to well because the snow would not stick so we ate it instead. It was almost powder then we got the idea of tobogganing.
Weeeeeeee, crash, that is the noise of us tobogganing. We did not go very fast though so we went rolling down the hill.
We went back in a terrible blizzard and then that turned in to a white out. What is a white out you ask? It is after a blizzard you can not see anything only white. It is terribly cold and windy. I did find it a bit worrying and scary. The worst part was it lasted for 6 hours and sitting inside the whole time and doing chores. Then on Sunday we went home.

My trip to Fiji
Have you been to Fiji? Well after this post, you will want to go. My family went to Plantation Island for three days.
My favourite day at Plantation was when we went on a boat to Bounty Island and went diving on the reef. My favourite fish was the parrot fish. It was bright pink and dark green and blue. Then we went to the floating trampoline and then we went back on the boat. After the days on Plantation we went to the mainland then we went to First Landing. We stayed here for the rest of the week then we went to the airport and went back to NZ.

Awesome Art!
In Art this week we have been doing Printmaking. First we needed to cut out shapes. Then we had to glue down the shapes onto a piece of paper in a pattern. It was quite fun to experiment with all the ways you can put the shapes into patterns.

My Holiday
My Holiday
At the start of the holidays I went to a few different clubs. E.g. Art Classes, Sport Clubs, and School Holiday Programs.
In the Middle Weekend I went to Pauanui with my grandparents. We went on a long bush-walk through huge, giant rivers.
In the 2nd week we went to more Art Classes. Some days we went to look at houses and the rest we stayed at home.

Money Week
This week it was Money Week. Room 19 needed to learn about all the coins and notes. Here are the New Zealand coins and notes:
10c, 20c, 50c, $1, $2, $5, $10, $50, $100.
We learned why we value money. Here is a question for you:

Welcome back to Term 4
Kia Ora, Talofa, Namaste, Ni Hao, Malo-e-lelei Everyone!
Hope you all had a great holiday! We are now back to our final term of the year.
This week has been a busy one for our school. Earlier this week we welcomed our visitors from Serpell Primary who are from Melbourne, Australia.
On Wednesday the Kapa Haka group and Dilworth Boys School performed some maori songs to the Serpell Primary students. The Serpell Primary boys learnt the Haka and I think they really enjoyed it.
This week was Diwali. Diwali is all about the festival of lights. We were really lucky to have a dance group from India to come to Meadowbank School to show us a few dance moves. One person from each class got to go and try some moves and lucky Mojdeh got to try some. They had a Diwali festival in Aotea square. The Diwali festival had lots of food stalls, activities, rides, dances and art.

Jacob`s holiday
In the holiday I went to the movies and I watched house of magic. I thought it was amazing and my favourite part was when the little mouse said he's cuter than the old rabbit. I thought it was funny. I think you will like it. I watched it with my cousins and my grandad. My cousins names are Ashlee and Catelyn.
Amazing Holidays
Wow! I bet none of your holidays were as nice as mine. The first thing I did in the holidays was go to Whangarei for the first week of the holidays. (The trip was boring).
But when we got there that was when the fun began. The unit we were in was unit 12. After we had been there for 2 days my dad and I went into the swimming pool and the spa.The rest of the week we had fancy meals and having fun. My sister and I had snacks and watched Percy Jackson and the sea of monsters and we played monopoly.
The next week we went to Auckland again just in time for the power cut which was sad for us. But after the power cut I got 10,9 and 8th place in the world in a game called uphill rush, I also got to level 15 in a game called Frizzle Fraz.

Last day of Term and Farewell
We finally made it to the end of Term 3! All the students are looking forward to their two week break. It has been a very busy term with Film Festival, Cross Country, Assembly and Art Exhibition.
Sadly, we say good-bye to Yunji who will be leaving us. We wish Yunji all the best at her new school.
To Room 19: Let us know what you have been doing over the holidays by posting a comment on this post. Remember to check and edit your writing before you post. You may want to get someone to check it before you submit. Make sure that they are 'quality comments'.
Have a wonderful holiday! Check back on here for more pictures and videos of our Room 19's Got a Talent on the last day of school.

Orange Day at Meadowbank School
These are the people who dressed up in Orange. The whole school voted for a fruit or vegetable and Orange won. Then everybody in the school needed to dress up in orange including all the teachers. It was very funny to see everybody's crazy and creative costumes at the school. Last week the actual elections happened so the student council decided it would be cool to have elections at school.
My Awesome Term
Do you know what I enjoyed in Term three?
What I liked was doing year 3 sport. In Year three sport we play sports e.g hockey, bullrush and ball steal. My favourite game is bullrush.
I also like clubs that the school has. These are the clubs - Junior Choir, Chinese dance, Pacific dance, Asian dance, Senior choir, Kapa haka and the lucky last ukelele.
I also enjoyed the Year 6 production I liked little red riding hood.

The second thing I enjoyed was the disco.
First I did my hair and I put on my clothes. Next I went to the disco with my friend Sacha.
Then we partied so hard that we got sweaty. Finally we got to eat and then we went home.
My third thing I liked this term was the assembly.
First thing I did was went on the stage. Next the people came in to watch our assembly.
Then we started our assembly. It was cool. Our assembly was about kos and movie making. Finally we finished our assembly.

The Amazing Term 3
This term has had lots of different things happening but I will only explain some.
Book Week: There was a parade of book characters on the courts and there was a book swap.
Cross Country: We walked to College Rifles to do Cross Country. We needed to run 2 laps of the field. It was very hard running the Cross Country Race.
The Disco: At the Disco there were lots of people. It was one of my favourite attractions of the year. The tremendously terrific magnificently styled glowing lights shimmered in the noisy hall.

Our Art for the 'Art Exhibition'.
Our Stained
Glass Window Art
We looked at
some Stained Glass Windows and talked about where we had seen them and we said
we had seen the Stained Glass Windows in Churches.
When we made our art for the
art exhibition we had to draw a flower with geometrical shapes. After all of us
had finished our drawings we then mixed some black paint and PVA glue so we
could get some black gluey mixture. We then squeezed it from a bottle on to our
paintings and let them dry.
When they dried we then dyed it all sorts of
colours.

Amazing Art
On Wednesday Room 19 went to see the art exhibition.
Some of the art was marvelous my favourite art was a black tree with a black bird with different coloured buttons for leaves. But that does not mean I did not like the rest. The button s were different colours like red, pink, green , blue, yellow and lots more different colours.
Every class did there own type of art and a canvas. The black trunk made me like it. This is how it looks.

Some of the art was marvelous my favourite art was a black tree with a black bird with different coloured buttons for leaves. But that does not mean I did not like the rest. The button s were different colours like red, pink, green , blue, yellow and lots more different colours.

Claudia's story - my letter to Claudia
Dear Claudia
I like your story about the year 6 production.
It was really good.
It described the show a Lot.
I like your art that you made from the art exhibition it was better then mine.

Medaowbank Art Exhibition
I enjoyed looking at the pictures and the wire birds. My favourite thing was my sisters butterfly and Room 19`s art work which was stain glass windows with flowers. It took more then a school week to make the stain class windows. Jacob`s favourite thing was Mia's playdough city.
